Having identified that their business had grown to a size when an internal accountant was required, a client asked for our support during the process, recognising that they did not have the expertise to challenge candidates on technical matters.
Using our knowledge of the client’s plans for the business and having discussed in detail the type of person they were looking for and the role they wanted them to fulfill, we helped the client to draft of a ‘person profile’ and job description.
The client sent us copies of the shortlisted applications to obtain our comments as to suitability and then asked us to conduct second interviews on their behalf, reporting our views to the business owners. This support lead to the appointment of the current accountant, and the added benefit that we have a clear understanding of their role and abilities and a strong working relationship with them, from which we the owners believe the business has already benefitted.
